Duplex chalet in the Alps
The project consists in the renovation of a duplex chalet, located in a small village in the Alps close to Turin. The client, a young family, wanted to implement the functionality and the aesthetic of the house with contemporary solutions improving the usability of the space.
The project starts from the idea of completely overturn the internal distribution, previously divided in: living area with kitchen on the ground floor and sleeping area and lounge on the first floor. The final result consists in a spacious lounge area on the ground floor with an L-shaped sofa and a relaxation area around a contemporary fireplace, and on the first floor, on the other hand, the new kitchen with a large dining table as well as two bedrooms and a bathroom.
The selected materials wood, glass and plaster, are linked to the tradition as you can easily find them in a typical mountain house, but here they gain a new value becoming part of architectural solutions and unique contemporary details.
